When straight edge kids shit on vegans I get so confused because the mentalities of both subcultures are so synonymous and I just don’t get how you could understand one and entirely miss the mark on the other.

i have to disagree, straight edge derives from hardcore music, vegan/vegetarian derives from 1944, where as edge came from the mid 1980’s i would say you have the right idea here as both ways of life are to benefit health, yes, but they are also completely different
The year something started has little to no weight on what it means. Vegetarians and vegans existed well before the 1940’s, that’s just when white people decided it was something they could pretend they invented. And lastly the ideas behind straight edge have nothing to do with health, but with clear mindedness. It’s not about drugs being bad for you it’s fighting back against a culture created to keep us in our place.
Can we take the Hard Line subculture and like get rid of all the sex negativity, homophobia, and misogyny but keep everything else? Because Hard Line sounds tough as hell and I want to write it on everything I own.
Both are radical, countercultural ideas that challenge the norms that have been forced on us by society. Both go against destructive industries and the surrounding cultures that they create. Both serve to remove blinders that the government and capitalism have placed on people to subdue and control them. The similarities are there you just need to truly understand the ideals and motivations of the two concepts to see them.

My first decree as president is each fandom must choose their strongest warrior to fight in a gladiator style tournament. If the champion of a fandom is defeated, that fandom has to shut up about everything for the rest of their shitty misguided groupthinking idiotic lives.
